Environment Agency
Internal drainage boards (IDBs) are public bodies that manage water levels in some areas where there is a special need for drainage. We call these areas internal drainage districts (IDDs).
The Environment Agency inherited the administration of 6 IDDs in Sussex. Of these, 5 of the 6 IDDs have now been abolished. The remaining IDD is the River Arun. The Environment Agency will continue to act as the IDB until an alternative route forward can be determined with the stakeholders within the IDD.
If you would like more information on this or want to be involved, please contact the Arun IDB email riverarunidb@environment-agency.gov.uk.
