This statement provides an update on the AAIB investigation into the loss of control of SportStar SLM, G-CMBB, shortly after takeoff in conditions of reduced visibility on 1 September 2024.
The aircraft took off and encountered weather that was incompatible with flight under VFR. After a series of turns, the aircraft departed controlled flight and struck the ground near Chesterfield.
The investigation into this event is complete and a final report will be issued in due course.
