Ministers urge councils to improve number and timeliness of adoptions
Michael Gove and Tim Loughton launch new guidance to help local authorities speed up and increase adoptions.

Education Secretary Michael Gove and Children’s Minister Tim Loughton launched new adoption guidance today which aims to stop councils turning away potential adopters on basis of race, age or social background. The Government also plans to strengthen Ofsted inspections of adoption services to ensure services better serve vulnerable children in care and prospective adopters.

Michael Gove and Tim Loughton attended an event at the Foundling Museum in London to promote adoption and to celebrate the launch of the guidance.
