New chief executive announced for Remploy

Beth Carruthers has been appointed as the new chief executive of Remploy.

Beth Carruthers has been appointed as the new chief executive of Remploy, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist employment support for disabled people.

She will start her new role next month and takes over from outgoing chief executive Tim Matthews, who is stepping down after five years at the helm.

Ms Carruthers has been Director of Remploy’s Employment Services Business since 2005. She first began working with the organisation in 2000, and has a strong background in management and organisational development.

The appointment was made by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Iain Duncan Smith, following a recruitment process in line with the principles in the Office for the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice.

Since 2005, Beth has led the development of Remploy Employment Services business which has achieved significant growth by developing innovative and effective support services for disabled people and employers, finding more than 50,000 jobs for disabled and disadvantaged people in the last four years.

Remploy Limited is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB), sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions. It receives a grant-in-aid each year in exchange for delivering Work Choice services to help people with a disability or health condition find a job or remain in employment.

It obtains job opportunities by working in partnership with a wide range of national and local employers through its Employment Services business.

Remploy Employment Services operates a national network of 60 town and city centre recruitment branches and offices providing specialist recruitment and development services to job seekers.
