The project – a partnership between the Environment Agency, Woodland Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and FWAG SW – has seen the planting of thousands of trees at 5 sites across the 2 counties.
The new woodland will benefit wildlife and flood management, helping stabilise river banks, reduce surface water run-off, give shade for fish, and provide new habitats, increasing biodiversity. The second year of the project cost £35,000, with contributions from the Environment Agency, Woodland Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and local landowners.
The 5 sites are:
- Lower Woodsford, Dorset (a small part of the site)
- Cheselbourne, Dorset
- Bemerton, Salisbury, Wiltshire
- Langford Lakes, Wiltshire
- Norton Bavant, Wiltshire
