Treasury publishes Sir Nick Macpherson’s review into the pre-release of Budget information under embargo

The Treasury has today published a review conducted by the Treasury’s Permanent Secretary, Sir Nicholas Macpherson, into the arrangements for proactive pre-releasing of Budget information under embargo on Budget day.

On 20 March 2013 the Treasury announced that the Chancellor had asked the Permanent Secretary to conduct a review into the practice of the proactive pre-releasing of Budget information under embargo on Budget day which has operated in recent years. He asked that this review report on the appropriateness of these arrangements.
