The Home Secretary has reappointed David Anderson QC as Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation.
Mr Anderson, whose role is to review the operation of UK’s counter-terrorism legislation, was first appointed in 2011 and will remain in the post until 21 February 2017. As part of this role, he will continue to report his findings to Parliament on an annual basis.

I am confident he will continue to help this government to meet its ongoing commitment to ensure that its counter-terrorism legislation is fair, effective and proportionate.
The Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation has statutory responsibilities under section 36 of the Terrorism Act 2006 to review the operation of the Terrorism Act 2000 and Part 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006; scrutinise the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures (TPIM) Act 2011 (under section 20 of that Act) and the Terrorist Asset-Freezing etc Act (TAFA) 2010 (as set out in section 31 of that Act).
