Market engagement: Legal Aid for Inquests
We are holding a series of virtual market engagement sessions around the Public Office (Accountability) Bill

Following the first round of market engagement around the Public Office (Accountability) Bill in November 2025, we will be holding a further series of virtual market engagement sessions to share updates on development.

These sessions will be open to all organisations who are interested in hearing more about the expansion of legal aid in line with the bill, providing advice and representation in the area.

We are interested in insights from relevant market participants on whether training provision could play a role in supporting the delivery of inquest work. Please note that this and all engagement is exploratory and does not represent a commitment to any future procurement.

Why is this happening now?

We want to ensure that services are in place as soon as are required once the Bill becomes law.

Market engagement will help gather feedback to shape thinking on the future service and provide us with information about the capacity and appetite to deliver this type of work.

How can I get involved?

We will be running the following sessions over MS Teams:

  • Monday 8th June 2026 at 5:00pm
  • Wednesday 10th June 2026 at 5:00pm
  • Thursday 11th June 2026 at 5:00pm

To express your interest in joining one of these sessions please email us at civil.contracts@justice.gov.uk and include the following information:

  • name of your organisation
  • the session you would like to attend
  • the name and email address of each attendee

An event link will be shared with you once your place has been confirmed.

Can’t attend?

If you are unable to attend, we would still like to hear from you.  Please contact us at civil.contracts@justice.gov.uk.
