Dr Murrison visited RAF Lossiemouth, Kinloss Barracks and Fort George yesterday to get a first-hand update on the UK Defence presence in Scotland and to inspect recent infrastructure improvements.
The visits follows the recent cabinet reshuffle, which saw Dr Murrison being given special responsibility for Scotland and Defence infrastructure within the Ministry of Defence.
During his visits, Dr Murrison paid particular attention to the accommodation provided to personnel and their families.

With the future of RAF Lossiemouth often discussed in the media, Dr Murrison said:
The Ministry of Defence is absolutely committed to the future of RAF Lossiemouth, which is why we are investing £85 million on significant infrastructure improvements to the base to accommodate the transfer of the RAF’s Typhoon force from Leuchars.
RAF Lossiemouth has a key role to play in the defence of this nation and is essential to the large Defence presence in Scotland.
As one of the United Kingdom’s 3 fast jet main operating bases, it will provide crews at high readiness every hour of every day to police the UK airspace and to intercept unidentified aircraft.
