UK Defence Secretary meets King of Jordan
Michael Fallon has met with His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan to discuss ideas on tackling ISIL, regional issues and defence cooperation.

Michael Fallon has met with His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan today to discuss shared ideas on tackling ISIL and extremism, important regional issues and increased defence cooperation.

Jordan remains a key ally for the UK in the Middle East as demonstrated by the increased support provided as challenges from Syria and Iraq increase. With the delivery of training courses, Short Term Training Teams in-country, a number of major exercises each year and a rich programme of capacity building the UK enjoys a particularly strong Defence relationship with the Kingdom.

The meeting today further reinforces the UK’s commitment to the security of the Middle East and allowed the Defence Secretary to recognise the key role Jordan is playing in the anti-ISIL Global Coalition which is supporting the Iraqi government.
