Change of Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Chair
Nuclear Decommissioning Authority group Chair to step down to focus on other existing and potential future board roles.

NDA group Chair, Peter Hill CBE, has announced he is to step down on 17th April to focus on his other existing and potential future board roles.

This is following a successful period involving some significant achievements including reshaping the NDA Board, progressing improvements in the group’s governance arrangements, leading the NDA during the 2024/25 Spending Review when it received the largest grant settlement in the group’s history, successfully delivering the 2025/26 financial year with a much improved safety record and ensuring the group is ready to deliver its refreshed strategy.

Peter Hill said:

It has been a privilege to lead the board of the NDA. The group has a nationally important mission, and I have been hugely impressed by the quality of people across the group. I wish them well for the future.

David Peattie, NDA Group CEO, said:

I would like to thank Peter for his personal support and guidance since he joined the NDA in June 2024. Since then, he has made a significant impact for which we are grateful. We wish him well in all that he does.

Nuclear Minister, Patrick Vallance, said:

I would like to thank Peter Hill for his leadership and strategic insight during his time at the NDA in which significant progress has been made, including overseeing the smooth transfer of Hunterston B nuclear power station into government ownership.

Catriona Schmolke CBE, has been appointed as Interim Chair and The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will now launch a competitive external search process to find Peter’s successor.
