The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Knighthood will be conferred upon Nick Harvey MP.
The Prime Minister requested the honour be granted following the recent government reshuffle, in recognition of Nick Harvey’s longstanding public service to the country.

Knight Bachelor
A knighthood rewards a pre-eminent contribution in any field of activity usually, but not exclusively, at a national level, or in a capacity which is recognised by peer groups as inspirational and nationally significant, and which demonstrates sustained commitment.
A Knight Bachelor is an appointment, not a membership of an Order of Chivalry. Recipients can adopt the title “Sir” and there are no post nominal letters associated with the award.
The Rt Hon Nick Harvey MP
Nick Harvey was elected as a Member of Parliament for North Devon in 1992, quickly establishing himself as a hard-working and diligent constituency representative, with a particular record of campaigning for the needs of rural communities.
As Trade and Industry Spokesperson in opposition, Nick drove the development of policies to encourage the flourishing of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Under Sir Menzies Campbell, Nick was appointed Defence spokesman for the Liberal Democrats, The Defence Management Journal concluding that “Nick Harvey is one of the most knowledgeable MPs on defence subjects outside of government and always has something to say”.
In 2010 Nick was appointed as the Minister for Armed Forces, with specific responsibilities to oversee the newly created Trident Alternatives Review, a post which he held until September 2012.
