Knighthoods and Damehood conferred
The Queen has conferred Knighthoods on Andrew Edis, Richard Goss, Robin Knowles and Ian Dove. She conferred a Damehood on Maura McGowan.

The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Knighthood be conferred upon Mr Andrew Jeremy Coulter Edis QC, His Honour Judge Richard William Goss QC, Mr Robin St John Knowles CBE QC, and Mr Ian William Dove QC, on their appointments as Justices of the High Court.

The Queen has also been pleased to approve that the honour of Dame Commander of the British Empire be conferred upon Miss Maura Patricia McGowan QC, on her appointment as a Justice of the High Court.

Notes to editors

Mr Edis was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1980 and took Silk in 1997. He was appointed a Recorder in 1999.

Judge Goss was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1975 and took Silk in 1997. He was appointed a Recorder in 1994, a Circuit Judge in 2009, and a Senior Circuit Judge in 2011.

Mr Knowles was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1982 and took Silk in 1999. He was appointed a Recorder in 2000.

Mr Dove was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1986 and took Silk in 2003. He was appointed a Recorder in 2003.

Miss McGowan was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1980 and took Silk in 2001. She was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1997 and as a Recorder in 2000.
