Prime Minister David Cameron has met with the Emir of Qatar.
Following the meeting a Downing Street spokesperson made the following statement:
On Syria the Prime Minister emphasised the need for increased international pressure to end the conflict in order to prevent further loss of life and confront the prospect of growing sectarian conflict and extremism. The leaders discussed ways of supporting and shaping the opposition as a credible alternative to the illegitimate Assad regime.
They also discussed work to strengthen the political process in Afghanistan, supporting Afghanistan and her neighbours to work together for stability, including through trilateral discussions with Pakistan led by the United Kingdom.
The Emir emphasised Qatar’s commitment to investment in the UK economy. The Prime Minister set out his commitment to make the UK one of the most competitive economies in the world for investment, and welcomed the breadth and depth of Qatari investment in the British economy.
