The Cabinet Office has today published the Giving Green Paper outlining the Government’s plans to help build a stronger culture of giving time and money to support charities and voluntary organisations.

The Green Paper outlines plans that are already underway to enable civil servants to contribute to their communities and develop a “civic service”.

Staff within the Prime Minister’s Office have been voting for the charities and social enterprises they would like to support in 2011.

The two organisations selected are Blue Sky Development & Regeneration, a non-profit organisation employing ex-offenders in maintenance and recycling businesses to help reduce reoffending rates, and Street League an organisation that delivers sports and educational programmes to tackle issues including homelessness, substance addiction, crime and unemployment.

Staff at the Prime Minister’s office will be able to pledge time throughout the year to support the work of these two partner charities throughout 2011.
