PM meeting with Prime Minister Renzi of Italy: October 2014
David Cameron welcomed the Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, to Downing Street this morning.

Following the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson said:

“The Prime Minister welcomed the Prime Minister of Italy, Mr Matteo Renzi, to No 10 this morning. Prime Minister Renzi set out the progress of his reform agenda in Italy, and they agreed on the importance of working together on reform at the European level, especially while Italy holds the Presidency of the European Council.

“They looked forward to agreement on a package of measures on Climate Change and Energy at the October European Council, and they agreed on the importance of pushing for an ambitious agreement between the EU and US in 2015 on a new Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. They discussed the situation in Ukraine and the importance of the implementation of the peace plan agreed between President Poroshenko and President Putin.

“They also discussed the actions being taken to tackle the threat of ISIL in Iraq and Syria and expressed shared concern about the situation in Libya, and their determination to support co-ordinated international efforts led by the UN Special Representative Bernardino Leon.”
