Press briefing: afternoon 16 January
The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Portsmouth, Mikaeel Kular, and the President of the European Parliament.

Portsmouth

Asked about Michael Fallon taking ministerial responsibility for Portsmouth, the PMS said Mr Fallon would support jobs and growth in the city, working with local businesses, MPs and across government. The addition to his role would be alongside his current responsibilities.

Mikaeel Kular

Asked whether the PM was aware of the search for a missing boy in Edinburgh, the PMS said the PM’s thoughts were with the child’s family.

President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz

Asked whether the PM thought Martin Schulz was part of ‘the system’ of Europe, the PMS said Martin Schulz was President of an EU institution.
