The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on the UK China summit, European Commission and Iraq.

China visit

The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) advised that further details on Premier Li’s visit would be available the next day. He also listed the ministers Premier Li was due to meet and confirmed that he would be meeting the Leader of the Opposition.

European Commission

Asked whether the Prime Minister accepted that Jean-Claude Juncker was likely to become the next President of the European Commission, the PMS responded that the Prime Minister’s view remained unchanged.

Iraq and ISIS

Asked about whether the PMS had anything further to add on the UK’s response to Iraq, he replied that the government was providing humanitarian and political support to the Iraqi government. Asked about the proscription order, the PMS advised that this was a decision taken across government and underlined the seriousness with which the government was responding to the threat from extremist groups.
