Press briefing: afternoon 23 October 2014
The Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson answered questions on the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse, an internet meeting and Harry Roberts.

Independent panel inquiry into child sexual abuse

When asked about the independent panel inquiry into child sexual abuse, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Prime Minister’s view hadn’t changed, adding it was a good thing that the composition of the inquiry panel received full Parliamentary scrutiny.

Internet meeting

When asked about a government meeting with representatives of internet service providers and social media companies, the PMOS said that the private meeting was an opportunity to discuss how the government continued to work with the industry in dealing with extremist material online.

Harry Roberts

When asked about the release of Harry Roberts from prison, the PMOS said the Prime Minister understood the public’s strength of feeling that this case had provoked, and the widely held view that the murder of police men and women who are on the front line protecting the public is a particularly heinous act. The PMOS added that the decision on his release was one made by the independent Parole Board.
