Music meeting
Asked who attended the PM’s meeting with the music industry the Prime Minister’s spokesperson (PMS) said that it was a private business meeting but meeting details would be published in the usual way.
Omagh
Asked for more information on the Northern Ireland Secretary’s statement on the Omagh bombings, the PMS said that she had reviewed the issue of whether to launch a further inquiry. There were not sufficient grounds for a further review on top of on-going investigations by the police and the Office of the Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland. The PM supported the decision taken.
Syria
Asked for an update on the situation in Syria, the PMS said the Foreign Secretary would be providing a statement to the House later that morning. The statement would cover humanitarian assistance, discussions with the Syrian National Council and the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Asked for the PM’s view on President Putin’s comments about strikes potentially escalating the situation, the PMS said that the PM continued to stress the importance of a robust response to the use of chemical weapons.
