Flooding
Asked about the government’s response to flood-hit areas, the PMS said it was important that assistance was delivered as quickly as possible. All local authorities would seek to do as much as they could for communities. The government’s Bellwin scheme was in place to provide financial support for councils in relief efforts. In addition, grants would be available to help affected homes and businesses invest in future flood resilience. The government would continue to look at all ways in which communities could be supported.
Scotland
Asked about Scotland not paying UK debt if it became independent, the PMS said the Chancellor had called it a reckless threat.
Army Reserves
Asked about army reserve levels, the PMS said the government had clear plans to increase reserves to 30,000.
Cycling
Asked what the PM thought of people cycling in the dark without lights, the PMS said there were laws and they should be followed.
