The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Grangemouth, Aung San Suu Kyi, Syria and Sir John Major.

Grangemouth

Asked about the situation at Grangemouth, the PMS said that the decision to close the petrochemical site had been a disappointing outcome. The Prime Minister (PM) would urge all parties to continue discussions and the government would continue working closely with the Scottish government. Fuel supplies would continue to be delivered as usual.

Aung San Suu Kyi

Asked about the PM’s meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi, the PMS said that they would be meeting in Downing Street that afternoon to discuss the current political situation in Burma. She would also meet the Foreign Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister and Development Secretary.

Syria

Asked about the Foreign Secretary’s meeting on Syria, the PMS said that both the regime and opposition would send representatives to the upcoming talks in Geneva to ensure they were as constructive as possible.

Sir John Major

Asked when the last time the PM met with Sir John Major, the PMS said they meet regularly.
