Ukraine
Asked about sanctions on Russia, the PMS said sanctions would involve economic and political measures. The government wanted to see a solution through de-escalation.
Women’s policy
Asked about women’s policy, the PMS said the government had introduced measures in a number of areas affecting women including childcare, domestic violence, sexual violence in areas of conflict, personal tax allowance and single tier pensions, but further work needed to be done.
HS2
Asked about the vote in the House for HS2, PMS said the government welcomed the clear support for HS2.
Elections
Asked about the PM’s view on leaders’ TV debates before the general election, PMS said the PM viewed the role of debates positively. Debates would be discussed after the party conference period.
Knife crime
Asked about the recent murder of a teacher in school, the PMS said the government had built on measures making schools a safer place. Police investigations were under way regarding the specific incident in Leeds. The PM’s thoughts were with the family and friends of the teacher.
Growth figures
Asked about the growth figures announced that day, the PMS said the PM agreed with the Chancellor’s statement released earlier in the day.
