Asked about the situation in Ukraine, the PMS said the government was looking at a range of diplomatic, economic and political measures in response to the violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty. In that context the government was reviewing all existing export licences with Russia. The upcoming EU summit would encourage de-escalation and seek to find ways, through the international community, to establish dialogue between Ukrainian and Russian authorities.
Patrick Rock
Asked about a separate historic complaint against Patrick Rock, the PMS said the complaint had been dealt with in full accordance with the Cabinet Office’s HR policies, involving the relevant political and civil service line managers.
Immigration report
Asked about a report into immigration and jobs, the PMS said the report would be published shortly. The government was committed to reducing net migration to under 100,000 by 2015.
Sugar Tax
Asked whether the PM wanted to introduce a tax on sugar to curb obesity, the PMS said the government was working with industry to reduce salt, artificial fats and calories in foods.
