Asked about immigration and jobs, the PMS said immigration needed to be controlled after unchecked immigration in the early 2000s and the government was introducing measures to address this. The government wanted to see greater labour market participation which was underpinned by welfare reforms.
Queen’s speech
Asked about the Queen’s speech, the PMS said people could expect a comprehensive, pro-growth legislative programme which underpinned the government’s long term economic plan.
Teachers
Asked whether the PM thought teachers knew about the world of work, the PMS said the UK currently had the highest calibre cadre of teachers ever seen, who worked very hard. They were very knowledgeable – not least about their own profession.
