Prime Minister David Cameron’s CBI speech on the global race

Prime Minister David Cameron has used a speech at the annual CBI conference to set out how he believes Britain can be made more competitive in the ‘global race’.

The Prime Minister said success will come from taking tough decisions on the deficit, reforming our education system, and taking steps towards leaner, faster government.

In the speech Mr Cameron announced plans to reform the Judicial Review process – explaining that cases can be costly and can clog up the courts and delay justice. Meanwhile the risk of a Judicial Review can hold up major infrastructure projects. The reforms aim to reduce the time limit when people can bring cases, charge more for successive reviews – to prevent intentional time-wasting – and halve the number of appeals.
