The Regulatory Policy Committee received an impact assessment for the draft Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on 19 March 2026.
We are independently scrutinising the quality of the evidence and analysis used by the department to support the case for regulation. Our opinion of the impact assessment will be published for transparency as soon as our scrutiny process has been completed.
The draft bill was published by the government on 27 January 2026 following its announcement in the King’s Speech 2024.
