The Cabinet Office have published a new vetting charter to coincide with the launch of its 3-year vetting transformation programme.
The charter explains what you can expect during the vetting process, the service UKSV provides, and the responsibilities of applicants and clearance holders.
In a recent blog post, Dominic Fortescue, Government Chief Security Officer, said the charter “emphasises our commitment to make vetting as transparent as we can and to support everyone who needs to be vetted and hold a security clearance.”
The charter was written in collaboration with the diversity and inclusion in vetting cross-government steering group. Nik Mehta, Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in Seoul and chair of the steering group said “many candidates from diverse backgrounds rule themselves out of roles requiring security clearance because of concerns about the vetting process. I am convinced that this new, transparent vetting charter will make a difference in reassuring candidates that they will be treated as individuals with respect, kindness and dignity.”
