Department for Culture, Media and Sport
The BFI is the lead organisation for film in the UK. It uses Lottery funds to support film production, distribution, education and audience development. Since 1933 it has cared for the BFI National Archive, and celebrated the best of British and international filmmaking through festivals, film restoration, DVD releases and cinema programming.
Became an NDPB on 1 April 2011.
