PCCs have a duty to work with criminal justice partners to ensure an efficient and effective criminal justice system. With an appetite to strengthen this role and against a backdrop of increasing financial pressure across the criminal justice service, the Avon and Somerset PCC in partnership with the Local Criminal Justice Board commissioned a review to improve the experience of victims and transform the local criminal justice service. The appointment of the Behavioural Insights Team brought a fresh perspective to long-standing challenges, understanding the behaviours that drive the barriers that exist, and designing interventions to strengthen decision making, enhance working relationships and improve the experience of victims.

This free seminar examined the challenges and opportunities identified during the review and presented the menu of cost-effective, practical solutions that, taken together, have the potential to transform a disjointed system into a streamlined and victim-focused local criminal justice service,
