Animal Plant Health Agency
You can fatten, rear or finish animals from TB restricted and unrestricted farms at approved finishing units (AFUs) in the high risk and edge areas of England and the low TB area of Wales.
There are pre-movement testing requirements for animals moved to AFUs from TB restricted premises.
In England, cattle in AFUs with grazing must be TB tested every 90 days. There is no need for TB testing of cattle in AFUs without grazing.
In Wales, you must TB test cattle that is 180 days or older in AFUs every 6 months.
There are separate application forms for the different types of units in England and in Wales.
Read the guidance documents for the terms and conditions for the approval and operation of an AFU.
Approved AFUs
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) must approve all AFUs.
Check the list of approved finishing units in England and Wales for details.
