Form: Register temporary use of land or buildings to keep livestock

Use this form to apply for either a:

  • temporary land association (TLA)
  • temporary county parish holding (tCPH) number

Read the guidance on getting a TLA or tCPH before you fill in the form to check you can apply.

You must?get a county parish holding (CPH) number?for your main holding before you can get a TLA or tCPH number.

You must also register with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) to get a flock or herd mark.

A? TLA? is for land and buildings within 10 miles of the main area you keep livestock.

A tCPH is for land and buildings more than 10 miles from this point. It can be used for land and buildings within 10 miles if you want to register, and will operate, your holdings separately.

When to complete this form

Use one copy of this form to apply for either:

  • one or more TLAs (complete all sections apart from section 5)
  • one tCPH (complete all sections)

Complete all boxes marked with an asterisk (*).

You need to fill in separate forms for each tCPH you want to apply for. If you want to apply for a TLA and tCPH at the same time, you need to fill in one form for the TLA and another for the tCPH.

Do not complete this form if youve had a TLA in the past for the same land or building and the landowner has not changed. Call APHA to reactivate your existing TLA instead.

How to complete this form

To complete this form electronically, you need to:

  • download it and save it to your computer before you fill it in
  • save the form again when youve completed it

For each field or building, you must give an Ordnance Survey (OS) grid reference. This is 12 characters - 2 letters followed by 10 numbers.

If youre applying for a tCPH number for a group of fields or buildings, youll also need the OS grid reference for the main livestock gathering area.

How to find an OS grid reference

Use the Ordnance Survey. Follow these instructions.

  1. Search for a county, place or postcode.
  2. Using the map, locate the field or building. Use the +/- icons to zoom in and out.
  3. Right click on each individual building or field to find the OS grid reference.

Sign the declaration

Make sure you sign the declaration in section 6. Only the applicant can sign this, not someone completing the form on their behalf.

  • use an electronic signature
  • print the form and sign it

What happens next

APHA aims to process applications within 10 working days. It may take longer if:

  • your application is inaccurate
  • the form is incomplete
  • they need to carry out a bovine TB veterinary risk assessment
