About the Touchstone Award
The Touchstone Award is awarded annually by the British Hallmarking Council. Its funded by the 4 UK Assay Offices in collaboration with the National Association of Jewellers, the industrys biggest trade association.
The trophy is first presented at the Chartered Trading Standards Institutes Annual Symposium and then to the heads of the winners own local authority, raising the profile of the team and their achievements. The winning team will also get to visit a UK Assay Office followed by lunch with senior members of the Assay Office.
The award is assessed on the information supplied in the application. The judges are looking for innovative activity related to hallmarking. Successful applicants usually have a clear plan, which could be proactive or in response to a complaint or enquiry, and excellent follow up.
