Guidance: Lessons Management Best Practice Guidance

The purpose of the Lessons Management Guidanceis to inform, encourage, and equip senior leaders, central government departments, agencies, arms-length bodies, and wider resilience professionals in the effective management of lessons.

This guidance is intended to support UK Government departments, agencies, Arms-Length Bodies (ALBs) and wider resilience professionals in developing their resilience functions to meet the challenges and commitments. It is not mandatory, but it sets out a common approach for UK Government departments to increase their exercising capability, working both individually and collectively.

This complementary guidance is non-statutory and non-mandatory. Nothing within it adds additional obligations to users. It has been designed to complement existing learning activities, be used in conjunction with established lessons platforms, and to support continual improvement at national and local levels.
