Cubica Technology was funded by the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) to develop a way to automatically verify the trustworthiness of a range of structured and unstructured open-source intelligence (OSINT) data sources, producing more accurate situational awareness.

The Surrey-based company integrated algorithms into a modular and flexible platform to take in, process and fuse OSINT data for risk-based decision making support. They used a variety of open-source data, including social media, news and crowdsourced data to show how it could help improve decision making.

Its hoped the applications will allow for large amount of data to be processed and automatically assessed, avoiding human bias and error.

In future, Cubica Technology plans to demonstrate how it can work on a larger, more representative scale, event by untrained users.

Dr Scott Page, Managing Director, Cubica Technology says:

The CDE funding has allowed us to demonstrate how technology weve developed for sensor-based applications can be used for processing open source intelligence data; weve had great support in understanding how it can benefit a range of user communities.

Founded in 2013 and based in Woking, Surrey, Cubica Technology is an SME with 9 employees that develops state of the art processing algorithms and software and specialises in image processing, machine learning and data fusion. Cubica Technology works in both the defence and security sector.
