Centre for Defence Enterprise
Massive Analytic Ltd has produced a configurable dashboard element that allows arbitrary (real or schematic) maps to be uploaded and used to plot movement and association of assets, entities or targets in real time.
Funded by the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE), the companys dashboard provides automatic, dynamic, real time clustering of entities/targets based on proximity and shared communications. It can be integrated with a video feed to give an analyst full understanding of the domain under study and provide real time video analysis, using deep learning, to determine threatening situations, such as fighting or general violence.
Massive Analytic used artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to automate the segmentation and classification of groups of subjects to demonstrate the use of the innovation in a non-combatant evacuation scenario. It also researched the applicability of the innovation in different scenarios within defence, security and other areas.
Areas of application have been expanded from non-combatant evacuation to scenarios that would require facial recognition, automated detection of changes from normal behaviour, automated tracking of movement of targets through long range video collectors, gleaning intelligence from streaming social media and integration of dynamic segmentation of assets on a live map.
The goal of the project is to both streamline decision making and support the process through appropriate use of AI and machine learning technologies to help make better decisions, faster.
Gary Brooks, Chief Engineer, Massive Analytic Ltd says:
Without the whole process that CDE put in place, from the initial competition to the on-going support, we at Massive Analytic wouldnt have considered the defence market - seeing it as too difficult for a start-up to get noticed.
Founded in 2010, Massive Analytic Ltd now employs 13 people.
