The CNC is supporting a Home Office initiative in the maritime environment to provide a contingency policing tactic which is designed to enhance public safety and security.

This additional activity is being undertaken under the provisions of section 55A of the Energy Act 2004.

The previous Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, The Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP, authorised this activity in accordance with the powers granted to her under the Energy Act 2023.
