Coal Authority
As a non-departmental public body (NDPB) the Coal Authoritys (the Authority) functions are carried out within its public task statement under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015.
The Authority is also accredited to the Information Fair Trader Scheme (IFTS) managed by the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI). The Scheme sets and assesses standards for public sector bodies. It requires members to:
- meet government and public expectations of transparency and accountability
- encourages the re-use of information to ensure that a level playing field access is provided to their information assets for both internal and external users
It is the Authoritys intention to revise its current public task statement to provide external parties, under a licensing framework, access to our existing spatial mining hazard information for commercial use and re-use. This revision will provide others with access to the Authoritys data for purposes including the production of mining search report products to compete with the Authoritys CON29M report.
