The Courts Act 2003 established the Criminal Procedure Rule Committee (CPRC) to make rules governing the practice and procedure of magistrates courts, the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division.

The Act requires the CPRC, which is chaired by the Lady Chief Justice, to make rules that are simple and simply expressed, and that help make the criminal justice system accessible, fair and efficient.

Biography

Amy McEvoy has been a Legal Adviser, within His Majestys Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), since 2015. Since 2018, she has been a Specialist Tier 2 Family, Crime and Domestic Abuse Legal Adviser based in Cambridgeshire. She is currently the panel lead for the Specialist Domestic Abuse Court, within Cambridgeshire, and has previously assisted the Cambridgeshire and Essex Advisory Committees and Cambridgeshire Probation Liaison Committee.
