Department For Education
The guidance is for:
- local authorities
- early years providers
- schools
It relates to all local authorities that fund early years provision in England.
Conditions of grant
The early years supplementary grant (EYSG) is to increase the hourly amounts paid to local authorities, so that they can increase the amount of funding early years childcare providers receive for delivering the entitlements for the period September 2023 to March 2024 for the financial year 2023 to 2024. EYSG is subject to conditions of grant.
Methodology
EYSG guidance sets out the key principles of the grant. It will also help local authorities and early years providers understand how EYSG is calculated for September 2023 to March 2024 and how this will be paid to local authorities.
Allocations
You can view the published EYSG allocations for each local authority for the September 2023 to March 2024 period.
Please note - we have published an updated early years supplementary grant 2023 to 2024 allocations spreadsheet in July 2024, to reflect the actual number of children taking up the entitlements, using data from the January 2024 census (with the exception of the disability access fund (DAF)).
Payments for these adjustments will be made in August 2024.
