Department For Education
High needs provision capital allocations are provided to local authorities to support the provision of new places and improve existing provision for children and young people:
- with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- requiring alternative provision
The allocations spreadsheet shows how much funding has been allocated to each local authority. This funding forms part of the 2.6 billion we are investing between 2021 and 2025.
The explanatory note shows how we calculated the funding for each local authority in the latest round of allocations, for 2023 to 2024 and 2024 to 2025.
The guidance explains what local authorities can spend the funding on and the issues they should consider to achieve the best outcomes.
The grant determination documents set out the conditions of the grant for payments in the 2023 to 2024 and 2024 to 2025 financial years.
Additional funding will be used to support high needs capital projects for local authorities with significant dedicated schools grant (DSG) deficits. Weve contacted these authorities directly.
We also provide capital funding to local authorities to create places for mainstream pupils through basic need allocations.
