Statistics on local bus fares in Great Britain

The local bus fares index increased by 5.6% in England outside London between September 2023 and September 2024. The 2 fare cap for single tickets is still in place, so this increase reflects changes to other fare products (such as season tickets).

For other areas, the local bus fares index change between September 2023 and September 2024 was:

  • 1.2% increase in London
  • 7.5% increase in metropolitan areas
  • 5.5% increase in non-metropolitan areas
  • 5.1% increase in Scotland
  • 8.7% increase in Wales

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.7% over the same 12-month period.
