Decision: Leeds to Micklefield scheme: Transport and Works Act order

The TWA order and deemed planning permission would allow for the construction, enhancement, operation and maintenance of works on the TransPennine Line between York, Leeds and Manchester. This forms part of the TransPennine Upgrade.

The order includes powers to:

  • demolish, reconstruct and construct overbridges and highways
  • compulsorily acquire interests in and rights over land
  • facilitate the upgrade of the railway between Leeds and Micklefield

This will allow for more trains between York, Leeds and Manchester.
