Consultation outcome: Changes to rules - the Care Quality Commission (easy read)

There was general support for our proposal to replace the end date in the rules with a review date. The Department of Health and Social Care will take steps to replace the end date with a 5-year review date in the rules.

There was also support for our proposals on:

  • restraint and segregation
  • treatment at sporting and cultural events

However, we decided that we need to do more work on these before making any changes.

CQC checks the standard of health and social care services in England.

The 3 changes we want to make are about:

  • replacing the end date of the regulations with a review date

  • healthcare at sports events and cultural events if someone gets hurt

  • reporting when someone with a learning disability is restrained
