Statutory guidance: The Environment Agency national navigation (boat registration) charging schemes

You must register all boats kept, used or let for hire on Environment Agency waterways.

The charging schemes from 2025 document gives the boat registration charges that apply after:

  • 1 January 2025 for Thames
  • 1 April 2025 for Anglian and Medway

The charging schemes from 2022 document gives the boat registration charges that apply until 31 March 2025 for Anglian waterways and Medway navigation.

  1. In charging scheme from 2025, section 'Part 2: River Thames charges' corrected date in point 2 to 1 January 2025.
