On Friday 11 November the Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, visited the Czech Republic where he met the Czech Prime Minister Sobotka, Foreign Minister Zaoralek and laid a wreath at a remembrance event.

There was a press conference after the Foreign Secretarys meeting with Foreign Minister Zaoralek, where the Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, made the following comment:

Across our common European homeland you see the Czech Republic and United Kingdom standing shoulder to shoulder, as we had over the last century. And it is appropriate that we are all wearing poppies, as reminder of the way which the Czech and British people made sacrifices over freedom over the last 100 years.

We will continue to co-operate across all the issues that matter on security, on counter-terrorism, on migration, on intelligence sharing, all the issues we have EU to do. And of course we will have new relationship and new European partnership.

We do value the presence, participation and contribution of 40,000 Czechs in the UK and of course 3 million EU nationals who make contributions to our society and help Britain very much. We will always protect the EU nationals in our country and we hope and assume the rights of UK nationals in this country and across the EU are also protected.
