The Cabinet Office wants to understand how a new, mission-driven approach to public procurement could support delivery of the Governments missions alongside local priorities.

The Procurement Act 2023 aims to create a simpler and more transparent regime for public sector procurement that will deliver better value for money, and reduce costs for business and the public sector. The NPPS is an essential element of the new regime. It is a statutory statement which allows the Government to set and communicate the wider policy objectives to which it expects public procurement to contribute. The NPPS is provided for at section 13 of the Procurement Act. Contracting authorities are required to have regard to the policy objectives contained within the NPPS that is current at the time they are carrying out a procurement.

We have opened a short stakeholder survey to inform development of the new NPPS. The survey launches on Monday, 7 October2024and will close on Monday, 4 November2024 at midday.
