Essential work on the A14 & M11 in Cambridgeshire

Highways England

Highways England is carrying out essential work on various locations on the A14 and M11 to improve safety for the thousands of drivers using these roads each day.

The programme takes place from 16 November to summer 2016 and will affect a number of locations across the route. We will lift roadworks over the Christmas period to help you get away over the festive period.

As with most of our schemes, well carry out the work overnight to reduce disruption. However there may be times when we need to close lanes during the day and introduce a 40mph speed limit for safety.

Sign up to our email alert for full details of the works, road closure and diversions that might affect your journey over the next few weeks.

We are investing over 6.3 million into the programme to:

  • refurbish bridges
  • improve the road surface
  • introduce new signs on the M11, providing better directions for Addenbrookes hospital
  • clean and repair drainage
  • clear vegetation
  • resurface paths
  • replace sections of safety barrier along parts of the route
  • strengthen embankments

The main locations affected by this work are:

  • A1307 Huntingdon Road
  • A14 between junction 26 (St Ives) and 29 (Bar Hill)
  • A14 between junction 29 (Bar Hill) and 31 (Girton)
  • A14 between junction 31 and J34
  • M11 entry slip road, junction 13
  • A14 at Grange Farm
