Reporting requirements

The General Aviation (Persons on Board, Flight Information and Civil Penalties) Regulations 2024 (the 2024 regulations) entered into force on 6 April 2024. The 2024 regulations require responsible persons in respect of general aviation aircraft to provide information online and in advance about international flights (including within the Common Travel Area) and persons on board.

Failure to comply with a requirement of the 2024 regulations may result in a civil penalty of up to 10,000. You should read thegeneral aviation guidance before you submit information about your flight.

Compliance with the 2024 regulations also meets the requirements of the Passenger Information Directions made on 1 April 2022 under sections 35 and 64 of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.

An operator or pilot of a flight between Great Britain and Northern Ireland or between the United Kingdom and Ireland, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man is required, in the circumstances specified in paragraph 12 of Schedule 7 to the Terrorism Act 2000, to provide notice about the flight to the police.

Provide information online

To comply with the 2024 regulations, persons responsible for a GA aircraft must use one of the following online methods to provide information about the flight and persons on board:
