The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA) requires that persons with certain responsibilities relating to the use of animals in science have appropriate knowledgeandtraining.

ThisisarequirementforeachofthelicencesunderASPA:

  • establishment
  • projects
  • people

Thisguidanceseekstomaintainandcontinuouslyreviewhighstandardsoftraining and continuing professional development (CPD) that ensure individuals using animals in science have the necessary skills and competence to do so, in line withASPA.
